Elaine’s Texas Weiner Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 onion minced
- 1 pound ground beef
- salt & pepper
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- ¼ teaspoon oregano
- 2 teaspoons cumin
- 1 can tomato sauce
- 1 pint boiling water
Instructions
- Simmer beef with onions and salt and pepper until brown; drain.
- Add remaining ingredients, cover, and simmer 1½ hours on low.
- To serve, cut cooked hot dog lengthwise but not all the way through. Spread Gulden’s brown mustard on top, cover with sauce, and sprinkle more chopped onion on top. Serve on weiner buns.
