Little Nut Cakes
Ingredients
- 4 cups flour
- 2 sticks butter
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 cup sugar
- 1½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 8 ounces sour cream
- 1 pound nuts ground
- 1 cup sugar
- juice from 2 oranges
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Mix flour, sugar, butter, baking powder, baking soda, and salt like a pie crust. Add egg yolks and sour cream, mixing into the dough. Mix filling ingredients.
- Divide into 4 or 5 balls. Roll out narrow and long, but not too big. Spread filling and roll like a nut roll.
- Cut into ½-inch slices, put into paper cups, and place into ungreased muffin tins. Put half of a maraschino cherry on top. Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar just before serving.
